MODEM ADAPTERS

Using your modem overseas? Most countries use the same telephone jack which is used in the United States (known as an RJ-11 jack). However, there are many other types of telephone jacks which are used in various countries throughout the world. In those countries, you will need a telephone adapter jack to make the connection between the RJ-11 jack on the end of your modem's telephone line and the telephone jack.

All of our telephone jack adapters (called Teleplug-In™) are duplex. A duplex telephone-jack adapter allows the hotel (or office) telephone and the modem to be plugged in at the same time. This is important because it might be necessary to dial manually and activate the modem once a connection has been made. This may be necessary when making a connection through a hotel's switchboard.

Many large hotels use digital phone systems. Modems communicate using analog signals and can not communicate through (and should not be used with) digital systems. Fortunately, many of the larger hotels recognize this problem. Their digital phones often have a data port into which you can plug your modem. (Note that to use the data port in any of the countries indicated below, you will still need a Teleplug-In™ adapter).

EuroSurgeVoltage Valet.jpg EuroSurge™ Protector (for 220-240 volt electricity)
$46.00

Don't fry your laptop, Blackberry, iPhone, iPod, netbook (or other valuable electronic equipment) in countries with 220 or 240 volt electricity. The surge protector that you use in the U.S. only protects against surges in 110/120 volt electricity - not in 220/240 volt electricity. The EuroSurge™ will protect your valuable equipment against electrical surges in Europe and in other areas where the voltage is 220/240. The EuroSurge™ has two AC outlets, so you can plug in two items at the same time. It has a European plug, so you can plug it into outlets in most European countries, without an adapter. (A special plug adapter is needed for the U.K., Italy, Switzerland and Denmark). The EuroSurge™ can also be used in China, India, Russia, Australia, and in other countries that have 220/240 voltage, although a Special Plug Adapter (see next product below) may be needed to plug it into the country's outlets.

Includes indicator lights which let you know that the surge protection circuit is working.

Compatible with ALL laptops, cell phones, iPhones, Blackberry and netbooks.

Should NOT be used with any equipment of more than 8 amps (1600 watts).

One year warranty.

For Travelers to North America
––Travelers to North America from overseas may use our duplex Teleplug-In™ adapters (for their home country) to plug their modem in North American RJ-11 telephone jacks. They must first unplug the cord from the telephone in the room and plug it into the RJ-11 socket of the Teleplug-In adapter (that applies to their own country). Next, plug the cord from the modem into the second socket of the Teleplug-In™ adapter. In this way, travelers from outside North America do not have to purchase a telephone jack adapter in their home country.
